2016 Double Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon

Double Barrel was invented for the sole purpose of highlighting the best wine from every vintage at Hill Family Estate. The wine is extremely rare, and limited to an annual production of only 50 cases. We unapologetically make this wine for collectors and do not expect it to reveal its intense charm and elegance for many years. Our 2016 Double Barrel is made from our Windy Flats Vineyard in the western cliffs of Wooden Valley, with a small amount from the high elevation Baker Vineyard in the Atlas Peak Appellation. Merlot from the cooler Napa Carneros adds elegance, while Malbec and Petit Verdot broaden the focus and add to the structure. 100% new French oak adds balance and support, and as the wine grows up with the oak, these beautiful barrels integrate into the wine’s structure until they play only a supporting role. With no fining or filtration, this wine is ready to age and grow for a long time.
