The aromas consist of beautiful boysenberry and fresh bright cherry, combined with white pepper and nutmeg spices. Crunchy cherry and cranberry fruit flavors lead to a broad warm briary raspberry center. Nice acidity and a darker chocolate character come out on the finish.
The 2015 vintage has a big ripe chewy palate with concentrated black cherry and black currant. There are flavors of vanilla and caramel mixed in the mid palate with black licorice. The aromas have characteristics of vanilla butterscotch with black cherry and black licorice, and just a hint of jasmine.
The aromas are filled with roasted plum and jammy blueberry, followed by sweet smoky, and spicy oak. The palate is broad and generous with dark, friendly plum, cherry, and boysenberry fruit.
The 2016 Like a Hawk is filled with entertaining aromas such as black cherry, violets and spicy oak. After 20 minutes in the glass, the aromas calm down to the more typical bright plum and vanilla characteristics. The palate is seductive and intense, with flavors of concentrated blackberry, plum fruit and mocha.
The 2015 vintage offers pretty aromas of black cherry and mocha followed by darker notes of chocolate and cassis. The palate has a soft entry with more mocha and black cherry with lovely dark berry fruit on the warm friendly finish. The center has some solid ripe tannin for savory structure – small crops and roller coaster temperatures give this wine intensity and attitude that it will grow into over the next several years.
The 2014 Atlas Peak Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a graceful burst of blackberry, sage, vanilla, mocha and cocoa nibs. The palate is big and intense, with ripe mountain tannins centered over the black licorice and dark chocolate flavors.
